The Poetree Said
I’ll keep your poems and hug them tight, to keep me company through the night.
My family have been lost
Or taken away,
No more leaves to provide your shade.
On nature’s canvas I humbly stand,
Proudly stationed throughout the land.
The air you breathe, the scenery,
Made a little better because of me.
I’ll keep your poems and hug them tight,
To keep me company through the night.
The paper you’ve used for the words you write
Are a tree population’s greatest plight.
So protect the words you write for me,
Strap them to my trunk, carefully.
Furnish me with your memories
Of summer days gone past.
They’ll grow with me in nature,
Making sure they last.
Words can find the strangest places to live.
Perhaps you'll find some more here.
Things I Never Said
For all the words that found their way onto the page.
